Who we are
Insula3D is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact support@insula3d.com for any privacy question. Our business details are at the end of this policy.
This website
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not fingerprint visitors. For each page view it reports the page address, the page that linked to it, your browser, operating system and device type, your country and how fast the page loaded. Cloudflare keeps these records in full for 7 days and after that as a sample of about one in ten.
The site uses no advertising and no tracking cookies. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and protect the site.
Emails you send us
When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message, and use it only to reply and support you. Mail to insula3d.com addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a mailbox hosted by Google.
Purchases
Paddle is the Merchant of Record for our orders and handles your payment details. We never see your card number. Paddle shares order information with us, such as your name, email address, company, country and what you bought, so we can issue your license and support you. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
The checkout is Paddle's. It opens in a frame from paddle.com only when you choose to buy or renew, and Paddle and its card processor set their own cookies there for security and fraud prevention, such as __cf_bm on paddle.com and m on m.stripe.com. This website sets no cookies for the checkout.
Trial keys
Trial keys are for signed-in accounts. When you request one, we record your account's email address, name and company, whether you want us to contact you, and your IP address and country as seen by Cloudflare. We use them to issue your key, to allow one trial per email address and a few per network each day, and, only if you ticked the box, to contact you about Insula3D. They are stored on Cloudflare.
License keys
Your license key contains the licensee name, a key number, the issue date and the support end date, and for a trial key the trial end date. The Software writes the licensee name and build date into the output files it generates, and marks output made with a trial key as trial output.
Your account
When you create an account, we receive your email address and a password, and you then give us your name and, if you choose, your company, the type and size of your company and your role. We store the password only as a one-way hash, so we cannot read it. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your email address, your name, whether your email address is verified and an identifier for your Google account; we do not receive your Google password. We also record the date you created the account. Your account shows the license records bought with its email address: licensee name, number of seats, key numbers, issue date, support end date, the Paddle transaction number and whether the order was refunded. If you change the email address, those records move to the new address with your account.
If you turn on two-step verification, we store the key your authenticator app uses to make its codes, encrypted, along with the last code we accepted and one-way hashes of your unused recovery codes, until you turn it off or delete the account.
To stop password guessing, we count failed sign-ins for each email address and each IP address, and failed codes and email change requests for each account, for 15 minutes, and delete the counts within a day.
We use this data to let you sign in, show and resend your keys, and support you. License keys you buy are issued to your company, or to you if you give no company, and the Software writes that name into the files it creates. The type and size of your company and your role are optional; we use them to understand who uses Insula3D and what to improve, not for advertising. We email you to confirm your address, to reset your password, when new license keys are ready, if someone tries to create a second account with your address, and when your email address, password or two-step verification changes.
Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Signing in with Google also sets a cookie for up to 30 minutes that protects that step. If you are new, we hold what Google shares for up to 30 minutes while you read the Terms, and create the account only when you agree; Cancel deletes it at once, and otherwise it is deleted within a day. With two-step verification on, signing in sets a cookie for five minutes that holds the code step. These cookies are needed for the account to work and are not used for tracking. We set no other cookies.
The desktop Software
The desktop Software does not sign in to an account, has no online activation and no usage tracking, and it does not send your models or files to us.
When you download context buildings, the Software requests them from our server, context.insula3d.com, which is hosted on Cloudflare. The request carries your IP address, the files requested and the Software's build date. We use them only to deliver the files.
Some optional features contact third-party services directly from your computer: the basemap, satellite and label tiles, and place name search. The providers are OpenStreetMap, Esri, CARTO, Microsoft, Mapbox, MapTiler and Komoot Photon, or a tile server you enter yourself. When you use these features, the provider receives your IP address and the request, such as the map area or the search text, under its own privacy policy. Conversion and validation work without them.
Why we may process data
We process personal data only where we need it to perform a contract with you, such as issuing and supporting your license; where the law requires it, such as tax and accounting records; where you have given your consent; or where it is in our legitimate interest, such as answering a message you sent us or counting visits to this site, and your rights do not override that interest.
Security
This website is served over encrypted HTTPS connections, so the data you send cannot be read by third parties in transit. We never receive your card details, which stay with Paddle. Only we have access to our order records and mailbox.
How long we keep data
We keep order and license records for as long as your license is supported and as long as tax and accounting law requires. We keep support emails for as long as needed to help you. We keep trial requests for two years, and the per-network daily count for two days.
We keep your account data until you delete your account or ask us to. Delete account in your account settings removes it at once; a request by email is handled within 5 business days. Copies in our database backups are overwritten within 30 days. The order and license records stay, no longer linked to your email address, for as long as tax and accounting law requires. If you create a new account later with the email address used for the purchase, send us the Paddle transaction number and we will link them to it again.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data by emailing support@insula3d.com. For payment data held by Paddle, contact Paddle.
To delete your account, use Delete account in your account settings, or email support@insula3d.com from the address on the account. You can change your name, company, email address, password and two-step verification there as well.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
