Buildings, parts and storeys

Insula3D builds the tree of each file from the layer settings and the column roles. You see the result before converting, in Structure preview of the mapping window.

  • With the Parent building role, rows with the same value become parts of one building: the building is written as bldg:Building, and each object as a bldg:BuildingPart under it.
  • Objects without a spreadsheet row, or with an empty parent value, become buildings of their own.
  • With the Storey · 3.0 · CityJSON role, CityGML 3.0 and CityJSON add storeys under the building. CityGML 2.0 has no storey, so there the value goes out as an attribute.
  • LOD 4 exists only in CityGML 2.0. When a layer uses LOD 4, the Output window asks under LOD4 in CityJSON · 3.0 which LOD to write there instead: LOD3 or LOD2.

Tip:Switch Structure preview between CityGML 2.0, CityGML 3.0 and CityJSON to compare the trees. An object that would have no spreadsheet row is marked no spreadsheet row.
