Place a local model on the map

A model built near the origin can be placed on the map before you convert. The files are then written at that position, in the CRS you chose.

To place a model on the map:

  1. Click CRS on the icon rail and choose the CRS of the place, such as its UTM zone or national grid.
  2. Turn on the switch next to Map. The imagery appears under the model.
  3. Under Find, type a place or an address and click the arrow, then click Go here on the result. Or click Coordinates, type Lat/lon or E · N values and click Go here.
  4. Turn on the switch next to Placement and drag in the 3D view to move the model. Click Rotate to turn it with the dial, and type Height if it has to go up or down.
  5. Convert as usual. The files are written at the placed position.

Save placement saves the position as a __place.json file, and Reset puts the model back where it started. In the Output window, the CMIF format can keep the original coordinates with the placement, or write the placement into the coordinates.

Note:The map needs a CRS: without one the panel says No CRS · no map. Map imagery and place search need an Internet connection, and some imagery needs your own API key: click the key button next to Imagery to enter it.
